Step 4: using DriverPacks BASE. Make sure you select the Mass Storage DriverPack as well as check the 'DriverPack MassStorage text mode' option. Welcome to DriverPacks Tutorial. The Mass-Storage driverpack and check the 'Text-Mode. Load order with an edit in DriverPack_MassStorage_wnt5_x86.

Like a lot of people who are buying a new laptop, it comes with Windows Vista. In my case I wanted to have the option of dual-booting. So for me I wanted to install XP first followed by vista but I had problems installing windows XP onto my notebook because it wasn’t detecting the hard drive. The most simplest way around it is to use a floppy disk which contains the drivers for the hard drive and push f6 when it says if you need to install a SCSI or RAID controller. Now most people don’t have a USB floppy drive. So the alternative is to slipstream the drivers into an XP cd. This is a guide on how i went about doing it.

Please note there are two guides here so please scroll down further till you reach the the word EDIT the second way is one which can be used for every laptop besides xi and besides fujitsu To start I would recommend that all drivers and information needed are backed up prior to attempting this (or burn them onto CD). (plz note I do not take responsibility for anyone who does this. You do this at your own risk) In my case I was doing this for my Fujitsu Siemens Laptop (Xi 1554). This is how I went about doing it.

The software/hardware needed. Windows XP CD with service pack 2 (SP2). Also a CD-Burner (and blank-Cds). XP drivers for the hard drive 2. Create the following Folders C: CDImages Drivers C: CDImages XPCD 3: Preparing the Drivers Go to the Fujitsu Siemens Website and download the hard-drive driver dedicated for XP. If your having difficulty finding your drivers but know what it is i would recommend checking out they have a huge database of drivers for MassStorage controllers (PATA, SATA, SCSI, RAID) Extract the ZIP file Then open up and go to “ DriverDisk” and copy the items in that folder elsewhere (e.g. “C: CDImages Drivers ” ) Then within the 'Drivers' folder go into ‘ i386 NT5’ Folder and copy all the files except the txtsetup.oem (you will need the other txtsetup.oem file which is already in drivers folder) Paste it back in “C: CDImages Drivers ” and delete the folders in there So you should be left with this in your “C: CDImages Drivers ”: For those with Xa will have to go to the AMD folder instead Open up “ TXTSETUP.OEM” in NOTEPAD In the section DISKS you will need to edit the driver directory listing.

Thanks Sunnny! I just did it your way and this guide is brilliantly put together and right to the point. Respect for taking the time to get the pic links in there as well, it really helped to be assured that what I was doing was actually right!

The only thing I did differently was that I used a sata driverpack from instead of the ones from the FS site cuz for some reason I couldn't get those to integrate. But thanks a lot man, I agree with Zero, this guide should definitely be a sticky cuz I'm sure a lot of people out there might run into this problem with XP install not detecting their sata drives and when that happens they'll 'google' the problem and they'll eventually find this site. And thats a good thing right? Anyway, if you want to, you can add that link to driverpacks.net cuz I used their driverpack which integrates perfectly and it has pretty much every make of hard drive drivers in it.you know, for other peeps. So thanks again. I'm still configuring XP to suit my needs and I haven't got it right just yet, driver and performance wise.but at least I've got it eventually. Cheers Enjoy Yoself!

Well mayer im glad it helped you.bit strange that that it didnt integrate im curious what happened did it not pick the drivers up? And also when you added the drivers from did you still have to edit the txtsetup.oem or did you go straight into the integrating the drivers (will edit my one as to how you went about urs aswell) and i wouldnt mind if it became a sticky and cool will edit it. Oh and mayer if you do come across problems for the drivers let me know and i will help cos when i first did it there was no sound until i install the modem drivers.there was one device not recoginised i think that the sound and modem are interconnected anyway just doing my bit to help EDIT: also a big thank you to everyone on this forum and you zero aswell for pointing me in the right direction when i did this.before i had no idea but you showed me the light at the end of the tunnel EDIT AGAIN: It a sticky wow! Thats well cool!

The first sticky for the fujitsu forum. Scwheet, it is a sticky!

Haha.nice one! Ummm, I think the only reason it didn't work when I used the FS drivers from the site, sunny, was because I made the ISO wrong afterwards with Nero.but I only thought of that after I got it right using nLite.if you know what I mean. Because to use nLite to actually burn a bootable cd, you have to select the 'Direct Burn' option instead of 'Create Image' under the mode tab in the last screen. I guess it happened cuz I was copying you parrot fashion and didn't stop to think so I must've just burned the ISO directly onto the cd and then got frustrated when it didn't work so I thought it was the drivers.doh.

But I see you mentioned the driverpack.net site now.its just that I didn't integrate the pack from that site with nLite, I'm not sure if its possible to do it using nLite but I used a little program you can download from that site. Its on the same web page as all the driverpacks (and again.I'm not trying to steal your thunder.hehe.but you can edit this into your sticky as well.if you want to.): 1.

Go to and download the 'Mass Storage Driver Pack' and 'DPBASE' files. DPBASE is just a small program you use to slipstream the driverpacks from driverpacks.net. You can slipstream the other packs onto your custom XP cd if you want but the mass storage pack alone should get XP to recognize the SATA. Here's where it gets a little tricky. Once you've downloaded the files, run DPsBASE7016.exe. This loads a slipstreaming program and creates a few folders on your desktop.

Put the driver files (.7Z) into the newly created 'Driver Packs' directory which by default is on your desktop (depends on where you install DPBASE). Then run DPsBASE.exe. Click the button a couple of times, leave the installation platform on disc, click browse and choose the root location of your XP directory (the one you'll be creating a.msi out of), click , then be sure to select both 'Driver Pack mass storage 7.01.1' and 'DriverPack Mass Storage Text Mode'. Click , choose method 1, click , choose GUIRunOnce, click twice, choose 'Enable KTD for all.' (probably doesn't matter), click twice, choose 'Enable quick stream cache', click 3 times, make sure everything is up to date (which it should be since you just downloaded it), then click the 'Slipstream!' Button and watch it write to your XP directory.

So thats how I managed to get it right, its just cuz that driverpack has a hell of a lot of disk drivers in it so it must've found the right one somewhere.I think it was VIA. And the 2 points above I found on a different site and followed it exactly and it worked so it should work for others.unless you've got some really obscure make of hard drive. Anyway.couldn't have done it without this thread, thanks again. And I ran 3Dmark06 just now.I got 3439 pts.is that close to your score? Cheers bodger. Scwheet, it is a sticky!
